Getting a 'Bob Long' ?? Has he made mini-me versions of himself now?

Are you talking about his regs or markers?

probably a marker for under $400... the gen 4 platforms can be found for under $400 now only because the GEN 5's are to be released at cup. I prefer the alias platform to the gen 4 platform though... and if you look hard enough you can find them under $250...

You can find an Alias for less than $400, that is what I would go with.

I would go for the alias. Btw bob long is a really nice guy. When I had my marq 7 he was more than happy to anwser all my questions about it.

Alias, Texas Storm, Dark, Empire (2k5'd), and A-Bomb are my favorites. Dragun Timmies have nice trigger guards though...

I personally like the gen4's the best. You can get an Empire II now for about $400 and less. I've owned an Alias and an Empire II and I'd take the Empire II over the Alias.

06's (empire II and infamous) are smaller 05's but have a few draw backs, one being the pressure balanced poppit......I owned a empire II for awhile and really liked it never had a problem in the time i owned it, really liked the stock trigger on it as well

2k5's are my overall fav. weather it be a alias or just a 05'd 2k2 timmy, there bigger then 06's but seem to be the perfect size IMO. You really can't go wrong with any of them you pick up, there all pretty much the same.

I've owned 2k2, classic, TS and a few others.

I've always loved texas Storm, but they are probably older than you want. So, I'd go with an alias. ;)

Gen4's get a huge  from me. I've never had a problem with a Timmy before owning one. The pressure balanced valve was a good idea gone bad, and hopefully they've fixed it for the Gen5's. Alias FTW.

how is the pressure blanced valve diff from a regular valve? and the 08's are not gonna have the pressure balance

Simply put its suppost to help the valve open with less pressure, which in turns means less pressure needed to be applied which means lower pressures on the ram=less kick. However the design wasn't perfect and air can sometimes get trapped, causing leaks. You have to purge the valve everytime you air it up to insure that a pocket of air wasn't trapped behind the valve, to do this you have to manually push on the bolt pin to keep the valve opened while you air it up and slowly let the bolt come back till it seals. Overall its way more of a pain then it is worth.

I never purged mine because it was more work than airing up a gun should be. Went for 6 months without a leak before it finally started leaking. Replaced the rocket cap and poppet under warranty and leak was gone.

I never had any leaks but a few times it was shoot like +/-50, purging it would fix it. Only thing I had wrong with mine in the short time i owned it, not a big deal b/c it was easily fixed but still a PITA.

I would take a 05 over a 06 just for that reason alone.
