Ok, im finally ready to paint my spyder body, but im not sure what color to pick for the secondary color. the main body is going to be black to match my ASA, reg, and other parts, and i was thinking a chevy orange or neon green for the other color. here's a pic of the body so far:

I would go neon green. Orange would make the marker look too much like Halloween. But it's really all up to you.

neon green. cant wait for pics!

lol, i'd like to keep the main body black so that i can swap out bodies/parts with my imagine if i have to, which i probably will. i looked around today and found the bright construction orange (lol!) but havent been able to find the green. does anyone know where a good place to look would be? also, on Otter's site it talked about clear coat, is that the same thing as clear spray paint?

Do a yellow!! make it like a bumble bee!

ok, ill do that if i cant find the green. should i do the feedneck black like the body or like the secondary color (green/yellow)? btw, nice megadeth quote.

as far as painting goes, any ideas on how i should go about putting the paint on? im guessing since the secondary color is going to be lighter, i should paint that first (after the primer) and then tape it off and continue with the black.

If you take the bumble bee idea...you will not be the only one with it, I have decided once i have the cash, my PMR is getting a new look! and I might think of a way to attach wings and a stinger on my hopper.

well, bigred and i have come up with a new color scheme: since the design is a flame anyway, and i want it to match the rest of the parts, why not do an inverted flame combo? black body w/ red background and feedneck.

so, my other question still stands: whats the best way to go about with painting? do the whole thing in red, tape off the background, and go over it with black, or do the whole thing in black and tape it off and go over it with red?

ok, i got the primer and the red on. gonna put a few more coats of black on tomorrow and we'll see how it looks then.

in the mean time, drool:

mods, feel free to move this to the Customizing section. i think it'll be more appropriate over there.

its finished except for the baking (need to find exact instructions) i'll put some more pics up when i get home.

edit: got out of class earlier than i thought...

here's some pics of the (almost) finished product:

the feedneck came out really nice and smooth. i would reccomend Krylon over the $0.95 wal-mart paint to anyone who attempts this project. you can see how the black on the body is a lot rougher than the red paint.

my dad banned me from the spray paint. i would use it all up and he'd want to use it for something "important" and there would be none left. lol. looks good.

That looks nice!

the final masterpiece, enjoy!

that's awesome. i wish my dad would let me do that to one of my markers, like my mr-1, or i could get a cheaper spyder and totally up that. but he wont let me. :(. but that's sick. nice job!
