You can use a rail or direct mount asa

I'm kinda confused, how come people can't just get a cp on off and leave the stock reg on the vs2. Iv seen different brands of on/off's with different brand regs. what's the difference?

Uuuh where do you think the VS regulator is? Its part of the on/off - step one before going any further- read your manual. You will learn all sorts of important stuff

The foregrip on a VS2 is NOT a regulator, it's merely an expansion chamber. You would need to replace it with a regulator if you exchanged your stock reg/on-off for a aftermarket asa on-off.

I actually replaced the front grip with a CP reg, and just got a CP on/off. Works like a charm. Make sure to get the regulator adapter so you can use a different reg!

Since this is turning into an aftermarket reg thread...

I threw it on just to see and havent taken it off yet - it fits (no adaptor needed) and it works by itself - there are a few different Conquests though (02's are the ones to avoid) and a few different rebuild kits (008s are the latest). I usually pay between $70-100 for everything used and it comes with a bottle :)
