I am thinking about Half-backing my VS 2. Does anyone know if this has already been done? Or is anyone else thinking about it? i'm just wondering because i have a few questions abouts clearances etc. thanks for any help.

*if this has been asked in another thread sorry for the repeat, i didn't see any posts on vs 2 half backs*

It would be like doing any other Spyder. Just dont cut to far as to run into the orings on the bolt when its cocked.

but what about the top pull pin on the bolt. on a non-halfed vs 2, there is that slot on top of the gun that kinda guides that pin. if i half-back it and take that slot away, will i run into problems like the bolt not aligining correctly? thanks

You shouldnt have any problems unless you take to much off.

the pin should stay straight since it's still connected to the striker

how much is too much? and if i take off too much material where?

also i was looking at the striker. and the problem is that when the bolt pin is pushed down and connected into the striker, only a fraction of the bottom of the bolt is actually in the striker. (ill measure out how much actually stays in the striker). another potential problem i see is that since there is some left/right play when the striker and bolt are connected, without the guiding slot i could be putting a lot of unnecessary friction on the sides of the striker and the bolt (if the aliginment does not stay true). this would lead to my bolt working too hard and then eventually recocking problems.

i really appreciate all your guys help. im just asking a lot of questions cuz if im gonna do this, imma do it right. thanks

i do have a black timmy bolt that i could put in there. but i found that the timmy bolt is noticeably heavier than than stock bolt, so sometimes i have recocking issues at lower pressures. but yah a different color bolt would be sweet.

So what did you use for cutting?

jow002
08-27-2007, 10:05 PM
Paintballadict18 : its the longer style one.

Drefish: i used a mill with a cutting bit. i cut twice, i don't remember the size of the larger one, but i think i ended on 1/4 inch bit.

i found a great deal on it. i got it used for like 45 shipped. so i had to choose the long one. personally i dont think it makes a difference, because where you (or at least me) hold your gun is more towards the top of the reg, like near the front block. i like the longer feel now that i have it, but honestly, i just got it cuz it was cheap. lol

You should polish parts of your gun like I did. Check out the link in my signature. "Silverstreek"

That is one of the hottest VS2's I have seen, I am very jealous! Excellent job. Did you do the milling yourself?

And yes, you can order the Alamo city bolts in whatever color you want.

Excellent!

faith: yes i did do the milling myself.

i thinking that if other people want their vs2/3's half-backed that i would be willing to do it for them as well. if you wanted, i could do a half-back for you. just make a design (or you could describe your design to me and i could photoshop it for you) and send it to me. i would do it for dirt cheap too. if your interested, or if anyone is interested for that matter, pm me. thanks.
