My dad got it for cheap and it only has body damage. I already replaced the door, and all I need to do is buy new front fenders and I'm done. I can get them from the junkyard for $25 but I want to find them in the same color so I dont have to spend money on paint.

:twitch: I hate Neons... nothing against you or yours... just don't start tuning it. New SRT is the only good Neon IMO.

Thats a wee bit hypocritical.

the srt neon is basically the same thing just different body kits and minor changes.

the SRT-4 is the one everyone drools over. it's still a neon though.
I like mine more XP but it's not running good right now. :/

Different motor, different wheels, optional front seats, different suspension parts, and then the obvious different exterior parts. Its almost a totally different car. I test drove one when the first came out. Fun ass car to drive, very different to driving a SXT model Neon. You wouldn't know you were driving the same model if you didn't see the outside.

it's like this. drive a base model lancer. then drive a lancer evo.

sweet, at least you guys know that an SRT-4 is a neon. Most people say its not a neon, its a totally different car just not a package. ha

Neons are pretty reliable, most dont like they appearance but they are what they are. Im a 1st gen neon guy anyway, plus modding is always fun.

I don't have money to do anything to it so Ill probably keep it stock. Its already fixed I just need to paint the fenders. Also If I wanted to later I could just upgrade it to an srt4 and spend less than I would buying one.

The total of the car and everything after the repairs cost $1300. They cost around $5000 to $8000 used so I could turn around and sell it and make around $5000 profit.

you could, and srt swaps can come cheap if you know where to look. $1000 for the whole turbo/engine setup aint to bad. But you could sell it and make some cash.

I don't even think I will upgrade to any performance parts because I wont have any cash. when I get my job I need to pay for gas, cell phone, insurance, some other bills, so basically I wont have any money left for me my first couple of months after I get a job. It sucks being 16 and having no money, even when you get a job.

Thank you for correcting him, I was about to jump on that...

...that is the reason I said "only good Neon" because it's basicly a different car. It feels more solid, drives a hell of a lot better, and burns rubber stock off the lot.

My sisters second gen Neon had so many issues... it also felt like you were driving a POS. Worst car our family has EVER experienced/purchased.

I don't care about the wheels, seats, and exterior parts. If thats all the difference then I wouldn't care too much. I would get engine but I don't need a faster engine because I don't race, the only upgrades I would think about are the suspension.

Personally I don't like Doge cars and trucks, I'm more of a Chevy person.

And theres your problem. GM is so bad right now, I doubt Ill ever buy one. The quality is horendus, just get ready to use that warrenty often. My cousin bought a brand new 07 Grand Prix GTP a year ago. 3 Trannys later it runs like ass and is starting to have electrical problems. Hes done nothing but drive it, lol. The only Chevy Id ever consider buying is a Silverado or LS1 Camaro.

I will never buy cars brand new because they have a lot of problems. Also I like having cars that are a little bit older because then all the problems are well know and you can prepare for them.

which is a good idea.

I don't like any car with complex electronics. my 280 is pushin it, but it's simple enough for me.
I hate anything obd, and anything with massive emissions control everything (again, the 280 is pushin it, but it's not to bad)

basically, i like cars from the mid 70's and older ^^
