I was wondering for the cp asa would it be alright to have a dovetail mount instead of the direct mount. Which one is better?

It is a matter of preference....I like the dovetail myself.
Did you get a VA and a reg? You know the stock reg is in the ASA, so you cannot replace it without putting another regulator on the marker right?

I'm curious as well.
From what I can tell, Dovetail is the one that fits properly, but Directmount will fit, just not as well. As far as I know, the VS2 has a dovetail ASA mount.
Can anyone clarify?

The asa is dovetail mount, but you can direct mount it. If you take your asa off you can see it you can see the screw holes for the direct mount.

I think it looks better with dovetail mount.

If it's got the dovetail mount built into the trigger frame, I would just go with that.
