Ok so I'm doing some website work for a Home builder, and I'm pretty much overhauling the entire site. I'm working on his banner now, and I'm close to having one of his options done, I just can't seem to figure out what's wrong with the image that needs to be fixed.

it used to be this, but i thought the text was way too hard to read, so I resaturated it (next picture)

this is the current/resaturated version. I think it's OK with the fall color since it's an architectural site, but something seems like it needs to be fixed. LMK what you think

The second one looks nice. You are right about the first one, their name just doesn't stand out.

I'm not sure what more you can do to it. You don't want to go too over the top and make it too busy. If you do that it will just look amateurish. Keep is simple and professional.

OK. btw thats photoshop cs3

I greyscaled the image
tinted it yellowish
filtered poster outline
changed levels to get a brownish yellow
some mystery filter
-yellow one is here-
changed exposure
-red one is here-

text is simple, it's just a duplicate behind each word that adds a shadow to make the white stand out more. I like the creme/offwhite text more than white text but it looked bad on the second image.

I only have cs2 :( It works good though.

I changed colors around and stuff like that, but nothing I did made it look any better. The cream color might look better now that the background isn't basically the same color, but the white looks good, it make the name really stand out instead of blending into the background.

you could keep the first backround and make the letters white

you may have a dark monitor cuz I do and that sounds like a good idea, but on my bro's LCD trucolor it looks horrid.

It needs another color. Green for the foliage.

I like the second one. Stands out and that is what you want.

make both the first and 2nd style font the same color, serious pet peeve of mine. I would go with a different font really, the one that is there is elegant and sophisticated yes, but cursive fonts are hard to read.

btw. cs3 rocks, I picked up my copy a few weeks ago.

nope, just checked. your eyes are playing tricks on you. first one is all r241,g230,b207 and the second is solid white at 255,255,255

upon looking at it, the BG in contrast with the letter may make you think that, and i see it too... but the numbers don't lie.
