View Full Version : how far?

On average, how far do paintballs fly at 280 fps? So if I'm shooting outside how many feet away should the paintballs be landing on a clear day with no wind and new paint?

280 feet since it is at 280fps

i'd say at most maybe 200-300 feet? but it depends on how high the gun is, and what angle it's held from. and crap like that.

If you are shooting at 280 fps =Seccond so if it up for more than a second then it went over 280..I think.

280 fps is just the muzzle speed. by the time it goes 280 feet, the paintball will have slowed down because of drag. So you can get 280 feet if you angle the barrel, but you'll probably get 150 or so feet if your just shooting straight.

"A paintball needs a certain speed to make a clean break, as mentioned in the above section. Yet the speed limit that most paintball fields place on paintballs is no more than 300fps (194mph). That is at the barrel. There is a safety issue to stay well below the 14 lb/sq.inch of impact. According to some calculations that I have done, a paintball at that speed will travel just over 100ft with no angle of barrel."

you wount get more then 150 without any angle....ide say up to 300 with angle

100 ft at MAX without an angle to the barrel. The rest depends on the angle and actual FPS.

Edit - Dang! Kenny beat me to it. Guess I should read the thread before posting...
