Hello,

I've read threads about taping the vent holes at the end of the barrel. I think I'm going to try this on one of my stock barrels. Will it affect the accuracy any by not letting the gas escape before the end of the barrel?

I have both the J&J 14" and 20" I understand the vents are there for a reason and I really don't notice a difference in accuracy between the 14 and 20 inch barrels. They do seem much quieter as a result of the escaping gas I'm sure.

I also like the louder sound, Like I've read in the past it keeps the rec baller's heads down.

I think the only time it can affect the accuracy is if the ports were not evenly taped.

That makes sense.

Thanks

Yeah I don't really think it does much... aside from make your barrel louder.

The force of the air will blow the tape off anyway.

OMG, I taped the 12" stock and had soooo much fun yesterday. It was incredibly LOUD.

In one game near the end of the day it was 8 of us against about 24 or so. In the group were a bunch of newbies who were loud and clumped together.

So I take the left side and stay hidden until I could open up and cause some accurate hits. Behind the knoll I waited, and waited... then I open up with LOUD bursts and they started screaming and hollerin... .They didn't know where I was.

So, I move back and to the left, where I could get a good angle. It was great being alone, because I could move at will. Again I open up on them behind a barrier. Hit two several times, and they throw their arms in the air. A third one throws his hands up and surrenders..... I still see someone lying in wait so I open up again and they all start screaming like heck! At this point I'm LMAO and calling out my daily count. (by the way, my count at the end of the day was 38! I love my MR2!)

I move again, and start in on another group and so on. They were intimidated because of the loud sound and the ability of me to remain stealthy.

After it was said and done I bagged about 12 in a 5 min period. We were pushed back and they actually won the match with 30 sec to spare.

Taping the barrel scared the crap out of the newbies. If you have an extra barrel I'd suggest you try it!
