my gun used to let out lots and lots of co2 when i unscrewed it but now it doesnt, would this happen if the tank was low or can the gun be adjusted so it doesnt do this?

Yep, youre running out of co2, but its normal. Its just the unused gas locked up in your steel line. When you fill it up again, it will spew out more.
