View Full Version : Problem with stripping an ESP

I need something that'll remove powder coating from an ESP frame. I could follow previously given advice and sand the frame but there are tiny areas that I can't get to with sand paper. I need the entire thing clear otherwise my local anodisers won't touch it. Does anyone know of a paint stripper or similar product that'll work?

you can't anno the esp frame. it's cast so it won't take anno well. you can powdercoat it but that's it

I've heard that the ESP frame can't be anodised. This would make me stripping it a moot point. Can anyone verify whether it can or not? Has anyone actually tried to have the ESP frame anodised? I'd a feeling it wasn't anodisable but I'd asked around and I'd gotten people telling me it is. I'll just paint it if it can't. Powder coating is kinda expensive for just 1 small piece like this.

no one has tried annodizing it because it can't be done. Cast aluminum can't be anno'd
the powdercoating shop by my house does stuff pretty cheap actually. the most expensive things they do are things like engine blocks and rims

The powdercoating place near me does ovens and cooker hobs. I don't know if they do rims 'n car stuff. Basically I think they're gonna frown about doing such a small piece when their workload generally consists of a whole warehouse full of big objects. I'll have to find out though.
I think this matter can be considered pretty much closed now. Thanks for the help everyone.
